Are you a Birdsnest girl?
I most certainly am my friends.
Having a dedicated website showcasing lots of fabulous brands all in one place, is online shopping heaven in my books – don’t you agree?
Then if the brand is super clever (like Birdsnest are) they create their own labels to enhance the overall shopping experience for their loyal customers.
Actually, when I think of Birdsnest I always think about their customer service – the little love notes that arrive with each parcel, always melt my heart.
Yes I am a sentimental sook – I’m not afraid to admit it either!
Anyway, when the new lookbooks landed in my P O Box (about a month or so ago) I felt totally spoilt for choice.
The problem was, I kept changing my mind every five minutes or so – which meant writing the email to the team was almost impossible.
In the end I decided on two different looks for Spring Summer…although there is nothing ‘spring like’ about SE QLD at the moment. Spring has been bypassed and we have leaped straight into summer! One look slightly more on the casual side, that way hopefully there is something for everyone 🙂

Now my lovelies, you know I am a denim LOVER of the highest order. I simply adore my jeans, BUT when the humidity kicks around these parts, I have to wave a very sad goodbye to my SKINNIES – for at least a couple of months.
Because I am a true pear shape, I need my skinny jeans to be a snug fit. Snugness offers support over my ample butt and thigh area. So when said snugness meets the sticky humidity, all hell breaks loose in my world. I’m get too hot and bothered (and quite frankly I don’t have the inclination) to wrangle into tight-fitting denim.
I may however have found the solution to my sticky summer denim problem, with these fabulous boyfriend jeans.
The fabric is a super lightweight summer denim with a good amount of stretch. I love the fit too (I’m wearing the 14) it’s super relaxed with not an ounce of uncomfortableness in sight. No digging in at the waist band either. Bingo 😉
I actually took these jeans back to the UK with me and they were perfect – I wore them with my FRANKiE4 NAT kicks in white a leather jacket, scarf and layers for a day shopping with Beckie.
Psst. if you worry about wearing your jeans having holes in, stress no more. The distressing on these babies is of the non skin exposing variety too.
White and denim are a match made in heaven so this top was a no-brainer for me.
The crisp V neckline and cut-out shoulder detail are emphasised by the feminine soft fabric. Size wise I should have gone for a 12 because of the floaty style – it still works in the 14 though and I do like the extra length one size larger offered me.
This top would also work like a dream paired back with wide leg linen or even palazzo pants for a special evening out.
Can we just talk about these cute earrings and sunnies too? I know, gorgeous aren’t they?
Oh and if you’re looking for a budget friendly pair of nude heels – these one are from Spendless and just $49.99 The block heel makes them stable and very wearable.
Apologies for going on like ‘Polly Parrot’ – I know I mention it A LOT that my style personality is Classic with a hit of edgy, BUT since Boho has made such a huge inpact on fashion, I have slowly fallen deeper in love with this trend.
I will never be a full on boho babe, but that doesn’t stop me from have a dabble every now and again.
Embroidery is also HUGE this season, so this dress is a complete mixture of everything I look for in a dress:
- Black (yes even in summer, although, it must be cotton or linen) still has a big hold on this classic gals heart.
- Sleeves – they are fast becoming a non-negotiable for me (see below), plus if those sleeves happen to pack a fancy punch, then it’s always love at first sight.
- Length – knee-length always works better on me (see below).
- Details – embroidery. a delicate pattern or stripe always get my attention in the summer months.
My baggy arms and chunky monkey thighs.
Trust me when I confess that I have never been as heavy as I am now (even when I gave birth to Beckie), BUT, I also don’t think I have ever been as confident with my body as I am RIGHT now either.
Gone are the days when I mentally torture myself for carrying extra weight or for having junk in my trunk.
Weight comes and goes for me, so I try not to stress about it anymore. Instead I cut myself some slack. This year has been a toughie for me – being on the other side of the world while my Dad has been terminally ill has definitely taken its toll.
When I explain how I feel about my body, I’m not being unkind about myself, instead I’m just being honest. These days I feel more confident when my arms are covered. I’m certainly not saying that YOU need to cover your arms (no matter what your age or size) – instead, just do what feels right for YOU. I’m all for loving the body you have right now and whatever you need to do to feel a million bucks – do it!
After I fractured my ankle FRANKiE4 shoes have truly saved me. I have almost worn out my white NAT kicks and black SALLi boots. When I returned to work at Mimco the SALLi boots have been the only boots I have worn on my feet. If you stand on your feet all day I HIGHLY recommend investing in a pair of FRANKiE4 shoes. I do appreciate they are on the Luxe side where price is concerned, but you get what you pay for my friends.
Thank goodness Caroline decided to design heels that would be kind to our feet too – as you know girl, heels are my weakness!
The collection is now going from strength to strength and by far my favourite heels so far have to be the new ALANA. I’m lucky enough to have them in both the blush and black.
So if you struggle to wear heels, or if you’re like me and refuse point-blank to give them up, try the ALANA. The leather is buttery soft, the block heel is supportive, stylish and gorgeously feminine.
Have you shopped at Birdsnest lately? Whats your top pick from their SS 2017 collection?
