Harris Scarfe: Easy Wear Edit

If you followed along on my recent trip to Melbourne (via Instagram/Stories) you will have seen lots of exciting things were happening on a shoot for Harris Scarfe featuring their latest ‘easy wear edit’ which includes some cracking denim and basics.

My day was super fun, so I thought I’d share a few of the snippets with you…well maybe the cab driver episode wasn’t THAT exciting, but read on friends and I’ll spill the beans!

I have been dying to meet Chelsea from iheartbargains for sooooooo long (what an absolute babe she is too, super funny and simply a dream to work with). I also got to meet the gorgeous Amelia Stubbs @curvyamelia (Amelia is ridiculously beautiful – when she smiles, her face simply lights up the entire room).

My brief was to be at the studio in Richmond for 7:30am for hair and makeup – Have I told you gals before, I’m just not a morning person? Well, guess what? I’m still not  😉

Thankfully, I was super organised. I had fake tanned the previous evening, so all I needed to do on the morning was wash and dry my hair. I then said goodbye to Jonny (who was heading out for a run around the city before heading to the airport to fly home) before I jumped in a cab.

Local fact: I can’t believe how much darker it is in Melbourne than Queensland first thing in the morning – it felt so much like England!

Not knowing Melbourne at all, meant I had no idea where the hell I was going (let me tell you girls – neither did said cab driver) who after driving up and down a one way street (the wrong way) a few times, decided I would be better off on foot.

WHAT?

Ahem *cough-cough* You live here mate!

Plus, I’m paying you to be a bloody cab driver and get me to the right place – I did however just think those words and not vocalise them. Instead of moaning at him, I thanked him profusely (I know still so English) and decided to find my way there!

Anyone who was watching me, would have known instantly I had no idea where the hell I was going – I was wondering around like a lost puppy.

When I did find the studio, it was still in darkness (Ms. Eager Beaver was the first to arrive) – a slight bit of panic may have crept in at this point, but then suddenly (as if like magic) Justin AKA (MUA @justinhenrybeauty) arrived, so within 0.2 nano seconds my initial panic dissipated into thin air and all was back to being well in my world.

Denim.

Nothing pleases me (or my butt) more than exceptional quality, super soft, stretch denim – to tick all of those boxes though, the denim needs to be a good weight. Otherwise, it will fall short in the ‘butt and thigh support’ department.

However, (to add to my never-ending list of ‘denim must haves’) my denim must also be of the skinny leg variety. Which in a nutshell means, I want my denim to fit snugly through the hip and thigh, while still feeling super comfy over my tummy and waist.

Big ask?

Nope. Not at all.

I was gushing over this Harris Scarfe denim at the shoot all day – so much so, I even wore the dark denim skinnies to fly home in.

Yes lovelies, the jeans even passed the ‘sitting in a confined space’ comfort test on the plane journey home!

And just when you think my gushing couldn’t get anymore intense, these jeans have a price tag of just $19.95 (shop between 23/8 – 5/9/17)

*Shouts* ” Hey Chelsea, these bargains of yours’ must be rubbing off on me!”

Jeans available in Indigo, Dark Indigo and Black – also up for grabs in straight leg if you prefer.

Tees and Tanks.

I’m also a fussy guts when it comes to what I like/expect in tees and tanks as well.

Cotton for my tees and a big dose of stretch/seamfree firmness in my tanks, is something I always look for.

Tee’s work best on my curves that have a relaxed fit plus a flattering curved hemline.

I wore the KHOKO stripe Breton tee in some of the images. The fit was just right and would also be perfect for layering on cooler days. Check out the other great colour ways and patterns on offer ($9.95 for a stripe/patterned tee is absolutely marvellous).

Harris Scarfe has also included organic cotton to its extensive tee range – starting at just $6.95 for a plain tee.

On the day of the shoot all three of us wore a seamfree tank at some point (I didn’t take mine off all day). Seamfree tanks are one of those basics every girl needs in her wardrobe. Not only do they work a treat under a sheer piece, they also add warmth, depth and support under a shirts/dresses.

Note: Depending on brand I would normally reach for a size 14/32″ waist in my denim. In Harris Scarfe skinnies, I am wearing a size 12 – so I recommend sizing down!

What do you look for in your denim? Are you as picky as me? Have you shopped at Harris Scarfe before?

After reading your blog last night I ventured out this morning and picked up a pair of these jeans. I haven’t shopped for clothing much at Harris Scarfe before, as I always felt the quality was been pretty average, and the range a bit nanna-ish, but these jeans are pretty awesome as you say. It will be interesting to see how they go with wear. Hopefully they don’t stretch too much or fade, but for $20 who really cares?

  • Kelly

I am on the hunt for a pair of dark jeans with some decent weight but stretch, these might be the answer. I will have to go and check them out. It looks like you guys had a ball – what a fun day to spend the day!

  • Kathryn

Hi Bev., what happy, happy photos! I was looking more at how happy you all look than the clothes. The jeans look good however, I haven’t been to HS for years, I know there is one down at Morayfield but never go down that way really. I am sick in bed, been sick for weeks but this made me smile, thank you! x

  • Suzie

Great items and must go and check it out. Never shopped at HS! Can you believe it, slipped under the radar!

  • You know I’m pickie with my denim – I want my jeans to fit in all the right places and no saggy crotch. These look fabulous can’t believe the price I haven’t shopped in Harris Scarfe since I lived in Geelong I think it’s time for another visit.
