Eyelash Extensions Cure Hooded Eyes!

The Hooded Eye Edit

I have the worst case of hooded eyelids, STAT.

Not even kidding.

Trust me, there is not an ounce of over-exaggeration in this statement.

My eyelids are super baggy.

Over the years, (and no matter how well I’ve looked after my skin – yep, I do put a whole heap of effort and $$$into my face), my hooded eyelids are still always front and centre, when I look in the mirror.

It goes without saying, we are all tough on our own imperfections, but I can tell you one thing for sure – I would not hesitate (even for a second) to have my hooded eyelids surgically improved.

Yes surgery.

I appreciate that mere suggestion of a someone considering cosmetic surgery for vanity reasons, can send many people into a tailspin – but each to their own I say. Each to their own.

Personally, I would jump at the opportunity for my eyelids to go under the surgeon’s knife.

So my friends, until I win the lottery (note to self: time to start buying a said lottery ticket 😉 ) I think I have found the perfect short-term solution to my baggy hooded eyelid problem.

Eye Lash Extensions.

Tadaaaaaa – just like that, they worked like magic!

Magic was exactly how I felt, the second I looked in the mirror after my eyelash extensions were finished – my hooded eyelids were no longer that visible.

Of course they were still there – but the lashes did an outstanding job of camouflaging the pesky little blighters.

Seriously, why did I never think of this before?

Who would have thought that eyelash extensions would work a treat at disguising the loose ugly skin on my upper eyelid?

Before the extensions, my very short (almost non-existent) eyelashes, were hidden by the (very unattractive) sagging upper eyelid skin.

I appreciate I’m focusing heavily on my imperfections here, so let’s delve little deeper into the solution/disguise.

A couple of weeks ago I went to see the lovely Lara from Glam Lashes based in Hawthorne, Brisbane.

“Surely there is someone doing lashes closer to home on the Sunny Coast” I hear you cry?

Yes of course there is, but Lara had come with a pretty big shout-out – so I always sit up and listen when this happens.

To be honest, I didn’t think twice about travelling to Brisbane from the Sunshine Coast, as Lara was recommended to me by her beautiful girlfriend Aleksandra @covermum on Instagram. Do you already follow Aleksandra? If not, click follow asap because this babe oozes style by the bucket load.

From the second I saw Lara, I knew I had made the right decision. She is not only a gorgeous soul, she is also a true professional. One that understands her trade incredibly well, so I immediately felt confident that she would give me the perfect eyelashes.

Ideally I wanted a very natural look, but I decided to leave it up to Lara to make the final decision.

My attitude when I am trying something new is simple, have faith and trust. I could tell that Lara knew best, so I prefer not to over complicate situations, especially when I have no idea what the hell I am talking about – plus my eyesight is so bad, I wouldn’t even be able to pick up a single eyelash with a pair of tweezers, let alone delicately apply it!

Firstly, Lara covered me in a lovely warm blanket (jeeez, it took all of my willpower not to fall straight to sleep…although, I must admit to fighting sleep on these occasions because I’m bloody paranoid I will snore the roof off – the fear is real my friends 🙂 )

Plus, Jonny had come along to snap a few pic’s and I needed to make sure he didn’t fallen to sleep in the corner either!

Here are a couple of pics of Lara working her magic on my lashes.

Lara patiently added extensions to every single eyelash (it takes a couple of hours for a fresh set to be applied). There is no pain involved at all, instead you just lie with your eyes closed and fight the constant urge not to fall fast asleep 😉

I don’t know what I was expecting when Lara first handed me the mirror, but I can tell you I was so shocked at the results. The lashes instantly took the attention from my baggy eyelids.

Yes I can confirm eyelash extensions are a fabulous short-term solution to hooded eyelid syndrome that I know so many of us women suffer with.

I left Brisbane feeling so pleased and excited – I might even admit to F L U T T E R I N G my lashes across the lunch table at Jonny when we stopped for a bite to eat en route to The Sunny Coast!

So girls, if you’re like me and suffer from ‘hooded eyes’ (and live close enough to Brisbane) please consider letting Lara work her magic on you too.

I am THAT delighted with the results I’m going back today for a freshen up, before we fly to Melbourne.

  • Lisa Mckenzie

I’ve never noticed your hooded eyes Bev I think you have lovely skin,we are so critical of our selves(I say I have a vagina neck and to me I do ) I suffer from no lash and brow syndrome I need mascara and brow gel to look healthy!
Your lashes look amazing and I’m so glad you’re happy with them Xx

  • That’s really great to hear (and see). Yeah, with age comes wisdom but also hooded eyes!!! Look, you might find that you’re quite happy having lash extensions done and that going under the knife is not so necessary after all. It’s personal preference isn’t it? If people want cosmetic surgery, then in my opinion, go for it. I had tummy lipo when it was all very new (years ago), and breast reduction but I don’t think I’ll ever do anything else. I’m too chicken now plus after going through CFS I don’t want anything else dampening my already fragile immune system!!! Bev, you look marvellous, as always, and you should’ve had a “snooze”!

  • I can testify that your lashes look amazing in person – they look thick, luscious and not fake (no furry black caterpillar ? on your eyes – mind you that would definitely disguise your so called hooded lids). How long will they last before needing to be redone?

    • Do you think I could convince a caterpillar to live on my eyelashes permanently? 🙂 🙂
I so love my new lashes, I was meant to have them infilled today BUT I had car trouble and had to rebook – it made me ANGRY xxx

  • Oh boy I love eyelash extensions. Got on the train again a few months ago and then before I went on holidays. Daily swimming on holidays was not good for them and they clumped together and caused quite a lot of my real lashes to come out. I’m now in lash re-hab and feel naked. HAH. Love your results. They do take a lot of TLC but worth it.

    • I totally understand why you love them Nikki, they are so flattering – I must admit to being hooked ALREADY. I’m sure I will also attend lash re-hab at some point too…in the meantime I will do as I’m told by washing them daily and making sure I also comb them twice a day! 😉 😉
