Life. Spend it Well, with Marks and Spencer.

Sponsored by Marks and Spencer (Australia)

Gosh I’m more than a bit chuffed to talk to you today about the Marks and Spencer campaign:

Life. Spend it well.

For two reasons:

  1. I’m British. So of course Marks and Spencer has been a huge part of my life for a long time (yes, I’m that old) plus it’s one of the only stores I miss from living in the UK. Seriously M&S is a one stop shop of fabulousness and quality – and that includes the FOOD. The Moussaka has to be my all time favourite…delicious!
  2. The sheer weight of the words: Life. Spend it well. Made me stop and think (and it also prompted me to give myself a huge pat on the back).

Moving lock, stock and barrel to start a new life in Australia at 48 years old was not easy. But the sole reason we did it, was to LIVE our life to the fullest. We had no intention of letting fear of the unknown or silly barriers/internal boundaries, stop us from doing so.

Yes in short, we simply refused to let the ‘what if’s’ getting in the way.

It would have been so super easy to just stay put, in the one place we knew so very well. The country with a lifetime of memories.

But who say’s you can’t make new ones eh?

So we pushed open the doors on our very comfortable life and jumped with both feet…we outright refused to let fear of starting again, hold us back.

Fast forward six years: Australia is everything we wanted it to be and more.

The Queensland sub-tropical temperature means an outdoor lifestyle can’t be avoided – let’s face it who wants to sit indoors when the sun is shinning?

But now we are settled, are we remembering to do the small things that make us happy…

Because sometimes its the little things that have the biggest impact on our lives.

Remember:

Smiling is infectious, you can catch it like the flu. Brighten someones day by pulling out your cheekiest grin and saying Hello.

Maybe you have a neighbour that lives alone, just imagine how wonderful they will feel after a 10 minute catch-up with you.

If you live near the ocean – when was the last time you felt the sand between your toes?  I intend to get back to doing this OFTEN.

Never forget to say I LOVE YOU to your nearest and dearest. Knowing you are loved is the best feeling in the world.

Get up early to watch the sunrise – I have only ever done this once, it was truly magical.

Plan a sunset walk.

If you think a stranger looks amazing –  be brave and tell them. What have you got to lose? Plus, imagine how fantastic they will feel to hear your compliment.

Plan a simple meal with friends, like eating fish and chips at the park/beach.

Or take a moment to:

Eat the cake.

Hear the birds.

Listen to the ocean.

Or just breathe.

And while we’re talking about the little things (that make a big impact) why not be a devil by adding some colour to your Winter wardrobe?

Hello fabulous YELLOW shoes – aren’t you just a ray of sunshine!

Life. Spend it well with Marks and

Do you ever outfit build from the ground up?

I do. Constantly.

My shoe (and handbag) obsession is very real.

When I think of winter brights, shoes jump straight to my mind – they can be the game-changer in any outfit.

Anyway, Marks and Spencer must have read my mind. Because these were the front and centre piece that got my heart racing.

I’ve mentioned heaps of times about my classic style personality…I make it my own though by adding a hit of edgy, normally with a pair of drool-worthy shoes or boots.

When I choose pieces to add to my wardrobe, my first thought is wearability v’s mix and match.

I expect my clothes to work hard, Yes we all love the occasional show-pony but its the classic threads that we reach for without thinking that make our wardrobes function well.

Now, if you’re not familiar with M & S, let me quickly fill you in…

M & S is a great British institution. But after being separated for 6 years (yes, for a while I did suffer from separation anxiety), I truly forgot how amazing they are.

Here is why I have missed them and the reason M & S have been going strong since 1884.

Consistency – this is second nature to Marks and Spencer.

Quality – when I opened my parcel, the quality hit me slap in the face – I was reminded of what I had been missing.

Style – yes, they always offer a nod to the latest trend but they never forget how important offering an incredible selections of basics is too.

Value for money – what ever the occasion, Marks and Spencer have the whole family covered…even down to your undies and the food that goes in your belly.

Delivery – I ordered two parcels on the same day. One from the Victoria, South Australia, one from Marks and Spencer London. I paid $7.50 for the track-able Express post from M&S. Guess which one arrived first? Enough said. Don’t let distance put you off placing an online order (plus there is a dedicated Australian address for any returns).

So beauties, I’ll sign of with some food for thought…

Are you enjoying today, or are you going through life on auto-pilot?

It really is time to appreciate the small stuff.

Time to be happy EVERY single day.

You have one life, spend it well.

  • Lisa Mckenzie

So true Bev sometimes it’s the little things that make our lives wonderful!
Love all your outfits and the yellow shoes are gorgeous on you Xx

    • The little things always mean the most Lisa. Seeing Piper grow, smile, walk, talk all topped off with that cheeky grin…yep, its the little things that give us the warm and fuzzies xxx

  • Petra

That’s great to know. I really must look in M&S for mum and I (she was once English!!!). Love all your red backdrops too. I also like to tell random strangers how great they look – I love seeing the surprise on their faces. I also like to tell people in dressing rooms at clothes shops how great the outfit looks or if a pair of such-and-such shoes/bag would look great too. Can’t help myself haha – interfering bag that I am lol.

    • Petra do have a look at M & S online for both you and your Mum. The prices and quality (plus fast delivery) are incredible.
Not interfering at all, instead I would say delightful! You must put so many smiles on unexpecting faces – totally rewarding for you too! Keep it up xxx

  • Karsuz

Those shoes really are the bees 🐝 knees – stunning. I’ve never shopped at Marks and Spencer but having an English mother I’ve heard about them. I always thought they were expensive but looking at what you have the prices and selection look amazing!!

    • Oh I just know you would be in your element with a few hours shopping the M & S rails in London – spoilt for choice is an understatement…and you could grab your dinner from the food hall on the way out! By far the best food – this whole experience has reminded me how much I miss Marks and Sparks (it’s nickname if you’re from the UK). xxx

  • Sally Fricker

Hi Bev, Loooove Marks&Spencer too! But haven’t had anything there since I left England maaannny moons ago! lol, but can I ask the sizes you took in the jeans, tee, jackets please? That will help me with the sizing as I am no longer familiar with it xx 🙂

    • Sally the service was exceptional! I’m wearing a 14 long in the jeans (I’m 5ft 8″) and a 14 in the tee and jacket. I’m about to place another order for the both the jeans, the tee and the jumper (which is also available in the softest pink). The jeans fir like a dream – fingers crossed you will love them too! xxx

      • Sally Fricker
