Anyone can be considered a Mother figure in my opinion, there doesn’t necessarily have to be a biological connection – that special person that takes over the Mother role in your life is good enough for me. Mum, step mum, sister, best friend – the person you look up to, the one that looks out for you and always has your back, when the chips are down. That is who a Mum is.
Mothers Day can also be a bittersweet day; not just for me, but for lots of other people living without their wonderful Mum’s.
Whether we spend our time remembering our Mum’s through pictures and fond memories or indeed celebrating with our mum’s and our children – it’s still one of my favourite days of the year.
My Mum and I had a great relationship, I could talk to her about absolutely anything.
Even though she is not with me anymore, I still class myself as extremely lucky.
I feel so blessed to have had my Mum’s love, support and guidance for 35 plus years of my life. She taught me how to love unconditionally, and that family is everything.
Values I will hold close to my heart always. Values I have passed onto Beckie.
This year will be my 18th year without her, not a day goes by when I don’t think of her or indeed say her name ‘Iris May’ – she will forever and always be the wind beneath my wings.
Being a Mumma to Beckie means the absolute world to me. I’ve always cherished our relationship (even the ugly two-year old tantrum stage 😉 ).
This Mothers Day (Sunday May 14th) I will be at work (yes, I am being positive, my ankle WILL be functioning properly by then).
I always work every Sunday. Which means as a family, we usually plan to make sure we can still fit in a special Mumma’s day celebration…this year, Mothers Day also falls 3 days before Beckie’s 25th Birthday – she will be TWENTY FIVE. TWENTY bloody FIVE – how the hell did that happen?
Around Mothers Day I always like to set aside some time to just reminisce – reflection is super important to me.
I’m a thinker by nature.
I will think about my lovely Mum. I will talk to Jonny about Beckie. About all that life threw at her as a new-born baby. I will take the time to be grateful and count my blessings.
Honestly, I still thank my lucky stars every single day at how resilient my little premature baby was. How she made it through, against all the odds.
She truly is my sunshine, my best friend and gossip buddy rolled into one gorgeous bundle – the icing on the cake though, is I know we have an unbreakable bond.
Anyway enough of Sentimental Me – let’s get down to business…
If you’re stuck for ideas on what to get for Mothers Day – never fear lovelies, I always have a continual ‘wish-list’ on the go, so I can help you out.
I need a list I can tap into within a nanosecond, should anyone ask me ‘is there anything you would like for you birthday/christmas/anniversary’ – my motto is ‘always be prepared’ otherwise you end up with stuff that you don’t want!
For example, at the moment I have a long wish list of Uber Kate pieces I can’t stop thinking about, added to that is lots of skin care and make-up goodies from Mecca!
I already own several Uberkate pieces that I treasure…but my latest obsession is the Every Day Cocktail range – I’m wearing the Everyday Cocktail Ring Larimar* $195.00 in the pic above. Larimar cools tempers, calms fear, relieves stress and nurtures.
The matching earrings would also melt my little old heart (HINT HINT Beckie)
Or failing that, I’m also lusting over the Lapis Lazuli (size O Beckie 😉 – I’m sure she is not going to even read this, but its worth a try) – Lapis Lazuli allows you to tap into your intuition and symbolises truth and calming.

Midnight/ink blue and charcoal grey are the colours of the moment for me, so it seems right that I showcase their gorgeousness front and centre.
When this bag first arrived in store, I was unsure if it was the right bag for me. But this 60’s inspired Carnaby Saddle Bag quickly became a favourite. I love that it can be used as a clutch (flexibility is everything in a bag) or with the strap cross body style, for times when you need to be hands-free. Made from semi-shine and suede cow leather, I just know it’s a piece that I will treasure for seasons to come. The Ink Blue adds a true classic edge to this fabulous bag too which works like a dream with denim.
Pssst – Run, don’t walk if this one floats your boat my friends – the additional 20% won’t last forever.
I have come to love the girls over at Sebastianella – they definitely had me at ‘tassels’ with these new striking navy blue pieces – which you may have seen me wearing over the past few weeks on my outfit pics.
Both the bracelet and necklace are made from crystal metallic navy beads. The necklace has a beautiful Spanish pearl and the bracelet a freshwater pearl – each finished with a sterling silver tag – (special Mothers Day price $99.00 for the two)
Every piece the girls produce is hand-made in Melbourne with love and of the highest quality.
Heels glorious heels, of the god damn fabulous variety – how can a girl refuse eh?
Especially if said gorgeous heels are Charcoal Grey – I say impossible.
These Arlia Dress High Sandals Dark Grey Suede simply stole my heart with their laser cut finery and stunning block heel.
Charcoal grey and the laser cut detail are a winning combo, which works easily paired with denim as it would dressed up with a posh frock for a night out.
Note on size: I am normally a size 9/40 in all shoes – I could have easily sized down to a size 8 in these shoes.
Embroidered Cold Shoulder Evening Top in White $59.95* White Haven Emporium | High Waisted Skinny Jean in Light Wash* $139.00 Bohemian Traders | Arlia Dress High Sandals Dark Grey Suede* $199.95 Jo Mercer
Give me a great pair of jeans with a cute cotton top any day of the week – any season of the year.
The combination NEVER fails to work.
And would you just look at this gorgeous cold-shoulder detail – plus the fabric is 100%cotton and fully lined – hip hip hooray!
Super feminine sleeve detail that gives a nod to the high-fashion ruffle/frill trend too.
Size wise I’m wearing the L – which fits perfectly around the neck, any smaller and you would lose the shape of the ‘swing’ feature. Balance this voluminous style out with figure hugging skinnies, pants or pencil skirt and you’re good to go.
Talking of skinnies…
High-waisted and super-duper comfortable go hand in hand for me. My tum loathes a tight waistband cutting straight through the middle of it. These skinnies have a enough stretch (8oz denim with 2% spandex) to move with ease – I have no nasty bagginess kicking in after the first 20 minutes either.
Fit is designed to be snug. I’m wearing the 32″ just for the record, there is no way I would not fit my butt or thighs into a size smaller!
There you have it beauties, 6 ideas for Mother Day starting at just $59.95 – don’t forget the extra discounts won’t be around for ever – get in quick!
