I don’t think it would surprise anyone to know, that my love of style extends itself in to my home.
Cancerians are know for being home-bods. Like our namesake the crab, we love being in our ‘shell’. I see my home as my safe place.
My most treasured time is when Beckie walks in through the door from her busy life in Brisbane and we are united again as a family.
Gone are the days when my home resembled a show-home. Sadly it did for many, many years. I was the OCD nut of cleaning – you’ll be glad to know I now have this firmly under control – although I still love the house to look fabulous when friends arrive.
But after the first cork is popped though, I relax and enjoy our home for what it is, a place where memories are made. I relax without a care in the world.
So my favourite interior picks are pieces that make a big statement, to an otherwise blank canvas.
Interior style for me is minimal – crisp clean lines, with a touch of French rustic shabby.
Furniture pieces tend to have an ornate twist – the wood must be white though…I can’t put up with off-white, cream or magnolia.
Even though I love white and neutral tones, I always add a pop of colour through the addition of rugs and prints in my home – these pieces are key for warmth and balance.
So when I was asked if I would like to head to Carpet Call to checkout my local store, I didn’t think twice – instead I jumped at the offer – after all, I could look at rugs all day long…I may have dragged Jonny along to take some pics!
Rugs are one of the key pieces I rely on when making a room come together to feel like a home. They add texture, depth and colour.
So a couple of weeks ago, Jonny and I headed to Carpet Call in Aspley (north Brisbane) to have a mooch around the store…Yep. you guessed it, too much temptation at my finger tips – I fell in love with a rug (totally neutral but with heaps of depth through texture).
Greg the manager of the store was extremely knowledgeable about his product – this secretly impressed me. Nothing was too much trouble (even though Jonny and I may have trashed the store while trying to get the perfect pic 😉 ).
Carpet Call offer all of their customers a ‘home approval’ service – a sort of ‘try before you buy’ – this alone is genius!
What you visualise in your head may not always materialise when you get home, so this service takes all the worry and concern out of purchasing. Especially if you can’t decide between two rug designs OR indeed you’re unsure on which size rug to choose to fit the space.
The choice of rugs is vast:
- Hand Knotted
- Outdoor Clearance
All rugs are offered in 5 standard sizes, so if you get your dream rug home, only to find its a touch too big/small – no drama, just let the team at Carpet Call know and they can fix it.
To top everything, Carpet Call also offer home delivery of all rugs if you don’t have the means to transport them home yourself!
Stress-free shopping at its best eh?
Shop at home Service
Coming from England, carpet was a huge part of the home. As a rule the only rooms in the house not carpeted would be the kitchens and bathrooms.
On the flip side, living in Queensland means our needs are different, mainly because of the heat – but nothing beats feeling soft fabulous carpet under your feet when you jump out of bed in the morning (especially through autumn/winter), no matter where you live in Australia.
But if carpet is not your thing Carpet Call also offer:
The shop at home service is available 7 days a week, even after work and at weekends – such a great service.
Alternatively, have a browse of the website: shop from the comfort of your sofa for a full range of rugs online, awnings, blinds, shutters plus all of your flooring needs – delivery is free for all online rug orders too or you can choose to collect from your local nominated store.
Overall I came away feeling super impressed with the whole shopping experience, the choice of quality product was vast – I also felt in safe hands. Greg and his team at the Aspley store were true specialists in their field.
Shopping for carpets and flooring simply could not be easier.
Carpet Call have stores all over Australia: Queensland, New South Wales. Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia.
