If you’re looking for a budget friendly alternative to a butter-soft leather jacket, read on…
I’ve had a black PU jacket in my wardrobe for years, actually it’s probably 16+ years – and it’s still going strong.
It was one of the jackets (and there were many my friends) that I insisted on bringing to Australia with me, when we emigrated. I often forget I have it and always get excited when I find it tucked away in the back of one of my wardrobes (its super easy to forget such treasures exist while we sizzle our way through 2 thirds of the year, in hot and steamy QLD).
PU has also come on leaps and bounds in those 16 years. These days its extremely difficult to tell the difference between the real thing and it’s synthetic sister, if you choose wisely.
Pleather (faux leather) sits very comfortably in my wardrobe these days, alongside my leather and suede pieces too.
I love both.
Each offers a slightly different alternative, both on wear-ability stakes and of course the price.

Firstly, the key to longevity for me when searching/shopping for the perfect leather/pleather jacket is to make sure the design is super stylish with a classic edge.
Especially true, if you’re investing in leather. It needs to withstand the test of time, and not fall too deeply, into the fashion category.
Of course, the cut has still got to be airing on the trendy side, just not so on trend, that it will date after one short season.
The biggest decision between leather and pleather in 2017, simply comes down to your budget.
Or (if you think like me) weather can play a huge part in the decision too. If there is rain around – let’s face it, a good quality leather jacket can be ruined in one downpour. After leather gets wet, it just never feels the same again.
Anyway, over the last couple of months I’ve been on the lookout to replace my oldie pleather jacket (although, when it comes to letting it go, I’ll probably get all sentimental and keep it).
I did find a beautiful leather jacket (with a hefty $1000 price tag) but refused to spend the $$$ on it. We have such a short winter here in SE QLD, I simply couldn’t justify the price.

PSSSST… can you see Jonny’s reflection in my sunnies, what a (lens)man he is 😉 – he’s also a poor bugger having to deal with me and my lame leg!
As soon as I set eyes on this Meribel Waterfall Jacket from Eb & Ive I just knew it would be perfect and exactly what I was looking for.
Soft as butter leather look and feel – but at half of the price of the real thing.

How to wear:
What I love most about this jacket, is the waterfall cut – total design genius.
The pleather balances out the feminine – it encapsulates tough-pretty at it’s very best.
It sits slightly shorter at the back to give great definition to the waist.
Style this stunning cut of jacket over a longer top for extra ‘butt’ confidence if you are wearing jeans or trousers – you still get the full effect of the nipped in waist illusion, without feeling at all self-confident.
Also layer-up by throwing over your favourite dresses – this cut works a treat over a floaty maxi dress paired with your favourite ankle boots, it also adds great balance to a midi length skirt or dress. But looks just as good over a shorter dress with opaque tights through the winter months.
Pair back with your favourite denim, or black pants for an effortlessly stylish winning vibe, day or night.
If you are looking for super comfortable jeans with a great price tag then look no further. I’m wearing the L, but should have sized down to the M – a firmer fit works way better on my butt and thighs.
This basic tank is anything but basic. It feels super luxurious – made from 100% rayon.
A v-neckline that works to perfection under any style jacket. It’s also sleeveless which makes it the perfect layering piece. This is the basic piece that will be on high-rotation in your wardrobe.
From the moment I saw iZZY, I knew she had to be mine.
The gunmetal is so stylish, plus a wonderful alternative to wearing black.
What I love most about wearing my FRANKiE’s is the ability to change the footbed. Enclosed in each box is a ‘custom fit’ pack – which feels like I have a made to measure designer boots/shoes looking after my tootsies.
70mm stacked heel – tick.
Heel cushioning tick.
Arch Support tick.
Since fracturing my ankle I have been realistically thinking about my feet and their future heel wearing potential. I need to make sure from now on that my ankle feels supported, but I still adore my heels.
I honestly feel that when the gorgeous Caroline from FRANKiE4 added heels to her collection it was such a smart move. It also means that my heel wearing potential has no age-limit.
The iZZY is also available in tan – which is as fabulous, but airs more on the casual side.
Lovelies, if you struggle with your feet, I urge you to give FRANKiE4 a go. Once you try them, I promise you’ll be hooked!
Are you a pleather or leather girl? Or are you like me and happily sit in both camps?
