Brisbane Fashion Weekend

Brisbane is hosting its own Fashion Weekend on October 22th and 23rd at the Royal International Convention Centre.

Which in itself is pretty exciting for Brisvegas.

Two whole days of showcasing Brisbane and the fashion it has to offer, from some fabulous designers.

I’m going along as a ‘official blogger’ – yes, I promise to take you along for the virtual ride with me. This will of course involve lot’s of selfies, snaps and insta stories. Together we will get the insider view of the hotness that is heading our way.

I will also be privy to a back stage glimpse and I’ll make sure I push myself front and centre for the fashion show in the press area.

Keep reading because it gets so much better. I have some very exciting news.

Anyway, yesterday I hot-tailed my ass to Brisbane to attend last nights launch party (surrounded by lots of other fashion bloggers/designers and beautiful people).

The event was held on the roof terrace of Next hotel in Brisbane.

It was the perfect venue to kick off what is sure to be a great fashion festival, showcasing Brisbane.

Last night was all about revealing the Runway Designers.

So while sipping on a champers we were treated to a glimpse of what is in store for the main event.

How did I decide what to wear?

If I’m ever invited to an evening event, I almost always, turn to black.

Not only does black make me feel classic and sophisticated, it also makes me feel good.

But I wanted to wear something a bit different to the norm.

I do have a set of rules when it comes to adding anything new to my wardrobe though, the secret is longevity. Will it stand the test of time (or at least of couple of seasons if its a fashion piece).

If I’m clever, I can usually add something that is on trend, but also classic enough to scream ‘pick me’ when I’m shopping my wardrobe in a rush.

Brisbane Fashion Weekend

Utility Jumpsuit $199.00 Country Road wearing size 12 | Charlie Heel* $89.95 Frankie & Co | All necklaces Uberkate | Black Podium Earrings $99.95 Mimco

When I first looked at this on the hanger I just wasn’t sure (which just underlines why we should push ourselves and try things on).

After much debate while chatting with my favourite Country Road buddies (you know that thought that runs through your mind…’çan I be bothered to try it on’ ) I took the plunge and I’m so pleased I did.

What sold me was the fit (I’m wearing a 12, maybe could have gone the 10 – but I didn’t try it) and comfort. Also the soft drapey fabric feels super luxurious, almost silk like 60% cupro and 40% rayon.

It streamlines the torso, plus flatters/skims all the bits I choose not to focus on.

You can wear the pant as is, rolled or just pull/hitch the leg up.

The collarless neckline is a dream too. I folded mine in for the event, to give the illusion of a v-neck. Who knows how I will wear it next time!

Same with the sleeves roll, push or cuff.

Oh and the most important feature: POCKETS!

I must give these Frankie & Co shoes a mention…first outing, I wore them all evening without knowing they were on my feet. We walked a fair bit too!

I also got to catch up with some of my favourite bloggers.

Karen from Style Loving 2  Karen is always a delight to see and someone I truly identify with. Like me, she opted for black and she looked perfect with a pop of colour from her clutch.

Bec @Ilovethatskirt Oh my gosh, Bec looked amazing (fab sequined jacket). She only gave birth to her daughter three weeks ago…let me tell you when I gave birth to Beckie, I was in hibernation for the first 12 months!

Jasmine from Pretty Chuffed – OMG Jasmine looked incredible in a fabulous red dress. Red is truly her colour. She look divine.

Anyway back to my exciting news.

By now, I pretty sure most of you lovelies know how much I adore my baby girl.

She is my world and my sunshine.

Whenever I get to spend time with her, my heart truly sings.

I gush with pride at any opportunity – thank YOU for indulging me in these proud Mumma moments.

So last night, Beckie and her gorgeous gal pal Sophie, both AKA Two Corporate Girls were also invited to the launch, but not as official bloggers

Guess what? I’ve itched to tell you this 😉

The girls will be appearing CENTRE STAGE at Brisbane Fashion Weekend on Saturday 22nd October, presenting a styling session on all things Corporate and Capsule.

I gush with JOY.

To say I’m excited for them both is probably an understatement.

Not only are these two DDG (drop dead gorgeous), they are also hilarious.

Determined high-flyers with drive, ambition and extremely demanding day jobs.

The always conduct themselves with grace, humility and a big heap of laughter.

All this from the girls that only started this gig at the beginning of the year.

One last thing, I just love how they always coördinate their outfits.

They see themselves as a ‘brand’ and when they are out representing that brand, TCG always nail it!

Love your work girls xx

Watch this space beauties; the team at Brisbane Fashion Weekend have given us bloggers a couple of ‘silver’ tickets to the event, which I will be giving to one lucky IMS reader.

Have you ever attended a live fashion runway/launch?
