Gosh there’s a chill in the air at the moment.
BAM and winter is here.
First the rain arrived which caused havoc for so many folk.
Then, as if that wasn’t enough, to add insult to injury along came the Arctic feeling westerly winds, who decided it was their turn to show-off too, closely followed by a king tide.
There truly is no stopping or predicting Mother nature.
Devastating, dangerous and completely spectacular in every way.
Anyway, last Friday in the horrendous weather, we headed off from the Sunshine Coast to our mates place on the south side of Brisbane.
We had a plan:
Spend the day and night with our buddies, then on Saturday morning I would head into Brisbane for my six weekly salon visit. Beckie would arrive at our mates place, spread some love, then her and Jonny would head off to Ikea to look for a sofa for her new apartment.
But the dramatic weather came and the plans changed – Beckie travelling in her little car was aborted…in true Mumma and Daughter style we still managed to fit in buying a sofa though!
On the way down, our car was loaded up with everything but the kitchen sink (I kid you not)…we even had a flat packed table and chairs that Beckie had bought the week before when she came home. The 17 screws in each chair may have caused Jonny to be a tad grumpy, at this point Beckie and I went sofa shopping 😉
My girlfriend that we were visiting, had a major op the week before, so we went armed with presents food and love.
So proud of her. She is recovering so well, but a little TLC is good for the soul do you think? Both the receiving and giving.
I had made a huge pot of my Mumma’s stew for them both. I also roasted potatoes in garlic and butternut squash – leaving them nothing to do, but re-heat, enjoy and load the dishwasher.
Preparing food is something I truly enjoy. I adore feeding folk, it’s like my way of showing how much I care.
I digress…In my mind the weekend was going to be super casual. Just hiding from the elements, catching-up and sharing a tipple or two, then heading to the hair salon for some pampering from my mate Stevey at Blow Salon.
So I packed very casual clothes (very unlike me – if in doubt, over dress I say) but I thought I had it covered, the weather was so awful when we left the coast that I couldn’t imagine it clearing up.
When we arrived, my gal pal had made such a huge effort, (it was the first time she had done her hair and put make-up on) – she looked incredible (even though she is still in the very early stage of recovery).
I instantly thought bugger, I should have dressed up!
On the Thursday I had popped into Witchery and fell hook line and sinker in love with this black blouse…why oh why didn’t I wear it?
My love of black is never-ending, it always makes me feel good.
But lately I have avoided black as I wear it all day at Mimco.
So I knew it would take something special to win my heart.
I have looked for the perfect black blouse for a while.
For me and my ample boobs, it needs to have a v-neck (so hard to find). I also love the a hi-lo hemline.
Date nights at our place can be anything from a casual drink to a sophisticated dinner.
There are so many options with this blouse though:
- Denim: Black, Mid-wash, Dark and White.
- Leather/Pleather: Pants or Skirt.
- Drop Crotch: Any Colour.
- Dress: Add over the top of a form fitting dress.
This chiffon shirt dress is also a winner when it comes to date night too.
This Chiffon Maxi Shirt Dress from Romwe (online in US$) gives maximum impact with very little effort.
It offers an alternative to wearing a shorter blouse, which can be a huge confidence builder over skinny jeans/pants.
Kimono style works like a dream too!
Both the long shirt and the hi-lo blouse would look sensational with a leather jacket over the top. Or add your favourite on trend coatigan for a more relaxed look.
What’s your date night style?
