Please tell me you are.
Only three words are needed (ok, four if you include the wow 😉 ) to describe the accent on this latest loveliness:
NAVY | NAUTICAL | CLASSIC
Me to a god-damn T.
Yep. Seriously everything this typically English girl adores…
I know you have heard me harp on wax lyrical about my classic style personality so many times.
But the reason I do this is simple, because I believe its super important to understand what makes you tick, when it comes to fashion.
It’s not about pigeon-holing you, on the contrary, it helps immensely to know what floats your boat.
Sometimes getting to the bottom of your likes and dislikes, can be like an epiphany.
In order to shed some light on what works for you, you need to ask yourself a few questions:
- What is your favourite ‘fall-back’ outfit? The outfit that makes you feel fabulous, no matter what.
- What colours repeatedly catch your attention? Are you vibrant or more neutral?
- Do you love pattern? By this I mean is your preference pattern over plain?
- Is fabric king to you? Do you gush over silk/linen or is design/shape more important to you?
- Heels or flats? What shoes do you picture yourself wearing with your fall-back outfit?
Once you are aware of the traits that are uniquely you, shopping becomes so much easier.
Because you stop trying to ‘conform’ but instead, adjust the latest trends to fit into your own uniqueness.
You can start to build a wardrobe with confidence, just for YOU.
Just think of the fall-back as your starting place.
Now you can add colours that compliment each other, and stop buying colours that you think you should like.
If pattern is not your thing, that’s more than ok. Leave it alone until you’re ready.
Step out of your comfort zone occasionally, by throwing the odd show-pony into the mix,
By establishing what is uniquely you, it doesn’t mean you need to clone your wardrobe full of fall-back look-alikes.
No instead you know what you like and how to adapt trends to work for you. Simple.
My perfect outfit would be:
Perfectly fitting jeans, a soft silk v-neck blouse in blush or baby blue finished off with the most beautifully tailored jacket (nipped in at the waist) in either cream or navy.
Add to that a nude or tan heel with a drop dead gorgeous leather bag.
Last but not least, would be a silk scarf in complimentary colours plus bangles and earrings.
Yep. This is my ultimate fall-back outfit. The one that comes to mind when I don’t know what to wear.
This outfit could take me almost anywhere. Classic and sophisticated.
But, just because I call myself classic, it doesn’t mean to say, I can’t push my own boundaries.
But I know my limitations.
Yes, I gush over the finest fabric. Linen, cotton and silk are my thing…I still hyperventilate at the mere thought of a bride wearing a polyester frock. In case you didn’t know, I had a Bridal Boutique in England.
I adore neutrals and muted shades. Navy/white and monochrome are my go-to.
I prefer texture over pattern.
Whenever I picture myself, I’m always wearing a heel.
Understated classic pieces make me melt.
Yes, you will still find pieces that contradict all the above in my wardrobe.
BUT they are in the minority and not the majority.
Righto, let’s talk Nautical Newport.
Because if you have even a mere hint of classic in you, this collection will make you giddy with excitement.
It truly is, everything I love.
The name is genius too. It conjures up the epitome of classic.
- Wide Leg Pants
- Maxi dresses
Classic pieces that can be mixed and matched, always enhance your wardrobe space.
I constantly covet items that stand the test of time, that will defy trends.
Wide leg pants nail that brief to perfection.
Would you believe I still have wide leg linen pants from 8 years ago?
Why? Because they ooze longevity.
Make them in linen and I will follow you to the ends of the earth.
Maxi dress are another firm favourite of mine…make that maxi skim the floor, and I go weak at the knees.
So can you imagine my utter pleasure seeing a maxi in navy blue and white polka dots – I know!
The maxi works just as well paired back with a tan leather belt, as much as it does with the nautical rope belt.
Think espadrilles and your favourite sunnies.
Lazy days with sun-kissed skin and a sea breeze blowing through your hair…
Or snap your fingers and picture yourself city bound for early evening drinks.
Either/or works a treat and is the perfect summer ensemble.
Before I go, can we just take a moment to appreciate the hard work that goes in to launching a new collection?
It’s not as easy as it looks. I know from experience.
For me Em (Bohemian Traders guru/designer and all round gorgeous soul) has truly found her niche as a designer.
She always offers something for everyone.
Yep. She’s truly crushed this new release.
Biggest #fangirl here.
Well played Em. Well played.
I love to know you fall-back outfit. What makes you feel amazing?
Are you loving this release as much as me?
