The Dress and Jeans Edit

I’ve been a tad lazy of late.

For a good few weeks I’ve promised myself a fake tan.

Time for me to morph from ghost-like to summer-glow in the time it takes for my artificial tan to develop.

Every single time I promise myself this treat though, there is another cold snap and I just can’t bring myself to shiver while I slap on the good stuff.

Instead I tell myself ‘I’ll do it tomorrow’.

While I’m waiting for the illusive tomorrow to come – I’m missing numerous opportunities to bare the flesh.

For now at least though, the weather is still playing into my lily-white hands beautifully, so just for the moment I’m not losing any sleep over my almost transparent limb look.

Because I have a solution…

Instead, I’m pulling on my favourite denim and making sure my gorgeous frocks are not left waiting on the side lines – sort of killing two birds with one stone if you will πŸ˜‰

After all, I’m still denim obsessed and dreading the moment the hyper-humidity furnace puts paid to my loves for the next few months.

Bohemian Traders Oversized Summer Dress in Latte* $129.00 | Seed Heritage Straight Rip Denim Jean $89.95 | Country Road Sandi Wedge (awaiting a new stock drop)

Can I just point out all the things I love about this dress before I go any further though?

POCKETS and STRIPES.

Another winning formula Bohemian Traders!

Adding a pocket to any dress truly makes my heart skip a beat…

Don’t you think every frock should come with a pocket?

They add so much more to a dress.

I know. #pocketobsessed.

When it comes to dresses, I do have a secret formula that works for me.

There is no particular order, it just depends on what catches my eye first.

  • Sleeves – this quirky little addition (that is often neglected) can transform a frock in my eyes.
  • Fabric – linen, silk or cotton would be my first choice, but I do love a viscose too.
  • Length – on or just above my knee or floor-dragging maxi.
  • Pockets – perfect position is top of thigh.
  • V-neck – Yep, I have boobs, no more explanation needed.
  • Colour – black/navy always and forever BUT I also seem to gravitate towards pastels/muted tones.
  • Shape – shift in a shorter dress – Maxi’s tend to be my summer choice, so I’m more flexible on shape. And of course, oversized tee dresses.

Oversized dresses in the softest fabrics are just perfect for those days when only comfort will do.

You know the ‘blah’ days we all have – or the days when you want to feel free and not restricted, but still look fab.

If you’re heel obsessed like me, then a wedge works like a dream with this shape, otherwise your favourite sneaker or sandal will hit the spot too.

Style note: bare leges, skinny jeans or leggings work best with an oversized dress. Think streamline on the bottom half to counteract the extra fabric of the frock.

This stripey loveliness ticks all the boxes on the super stylish stakes too, but it still feels like you are wearing your fluffiest warm nightie.

Now, who could ask for more than that eh?

What’s your winning formula for finding the perfect frock?

Loving this dress on you lovely Bev,I like a frock too Especially a comfy one!
My trick to getting a bit of colour is to do the gradual tanning moisturiser, but I can’t use it ATM due to a bad flare up of atopic eczema/dermatitis on the insides of my arms and legs.
    Great post πŸ’™πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜
