Silk and the wide leg pant.

I was lucky enough to attend an event for Country Road VIP customers at the new store in Indooroopilly (Brisbane) recently.

Now, for anyone that knows me, this was a straight up invitation (permission) to buy a new outfit…it would be rude not too, don’t you think? 😉

So as I’m sure you can imagine – my mind went  into full on fashion frenzy overdrive.

With brand new stock arriving everyday – I have been spoilt for choice from the collection.

In the back of my mind though, I knew exactly what I wanted to wear… I had been secretly eyeing-off (lusting) after this suit for a couple of weeks.

The silk crepe-de-chine loveliness, coupled with the relaxed boyfriend jacket and wide leg pant was just a little too fabulous for me to pass-by.

For anyone that has been lucky enough to attend – new season fashion launch parties are ALWAYS thrilling.

I knew all the staff working would be pumping with excitement…but, for me I just wanted to look and feel amazing.

Afterall, I was not only representing the CR  brand, I was also representing our lovely Maroochydore store – that I’m very proud to be a part off. Good things are born from the Sunshine Coast I tell you – Good Things! We have a fabulous team.

Anyway, I wanted to walk through the door of the store at 5pm with the best of me ‘on-show’.

First impressions are the lasting impressions in my book. They truly count.

Especially because I didn’t really know a soul.

Not sure about you, but somehow I manage to get most of my confidence from my appearance.

Some might find this fact hard to believe, but its complete honesty. If I don’t think I look good I just want to hide in a dark corner.

If need to look in the mirror and feel happy as a sand-boy with my hair, make-up and outfit – no matter how awkward or anxious I maybe inside, I’m then able to throw my shoulders back and get on with the job in hand.

Yes, I can overcome most things if I FEEL good.

Choosing this suit made perfect sense to me.

  • Silk is by far my favourite fabric.
  • Black is my favourite colour.
  • Pant suits fit any occasion.

BINGO – outfit sorted in a heart-beat!

For the evening I actually wore it with these mules and this tee-shirt.

It worked well for both comfort and style. I also didn’t want to look like I had tried too hard.

As it was, I felt great – I think my new hair was the finishing touch – I felt classic with a touch of age-appropriate edgy-ness 😉

Now before we go any further let’s address these wide leg pants.

It goes without saying that after a couple of years of reaching for our favourite skinny jeans, jeggings and ponte pants – most people want run a mile at the mere mention of a wide leg pant.

But, if worn correctly – they are actually quite easy to wear.

  • Don’t be afraid to add a boxy top to a pleated pant. It can work, as long as the top doesn’t fall much lower than the waistband of the pants.
  • Unless you are a skinny Minny add a heel or a wedge.
  • Skinny tall sisters? Wear it with a pair of sneakers or espadrilles.
  • Top/tee’s are better either tucked in, or if left out, make sure they are not too long and over-powering.

Silk Crepe de Chine Jacket $299.00 (out of stock online).

Silk Crepe de Chine Pant $199.00

Foil Brush Stroke Tee-Shirt $79.95

Print Kimono Top (now in the outlet store) $69.95

Avery Point Wedge $149.00

Antonia Mule Heel $179.00

I made the most of my day before the styling event started, by meeting up with my gorgeous girl Ms.May.

We managed to sneak in some much needed Mumma and daughter time over lunch in Paddington (LOVE Paddington – so much fabulousness in one place)….AND I might even of headed out in Brisbane with my girl on my way back to the hotel after the event – cheeky I know – wonderful YES.

Especially on a school night!

Are you a wide pant kinda girl? Or will you be holding on to your skinny jeans for dear life?

Me? I’ll be doing both 🙂

Its wardrobe Wednesday time again…so I’m also hanging out with the Glam Squad at Kimbalikes place xx
