The White Shirt Edition

My love of everything Monochrome is being drip fed on a daily basis by the arrival of Spring stock in stores.

Sparkly white is coming at me with force.

Pure heaven I say.

Yes, even white shoes are making a come-back…although I must confess, the excitement to bare my tootsies quickly dissipates when I stretch my legs from under the duvet in the morning.

Brrrrrr it’s cold!

Instead, most days I’m still opting for the warmth of my boots.

But fear not, I won’t let that stop my shopping quest.

Everywhere I look, black and white loveliness delights my eyes.

For me, monochrome is the perfect transition from Winter to Spring.

It allows you to draw from your winter favourites by adding more and more white gently in to the black and grey mix. Lifting you into spring in a soft easy way.

Talking of white. I’ve actually been on the lookout for the  perfect white shirt to add to my work wardrobe for a while.

One that I can layer under a sweater, tuck in to my jeans or wear open over a singlet for a true casual feel.

A classic white shirt is a wardrobe staple don’t you agree?

Something that we all need – but sometimes it’s hard to find the perfect one. A white shirt that is multi-functional, that can be dressed up or down.

At the moment I’m totally in love with the ‘boy look’ – the cut is on the boxer side, plus slightly longer.  A touch  feminine masculinity never hurt anyone in my book!

The  longer length CR shirt I’m wearing below really hits the spot for me. It long enough to cover the bum/thigh area if that’s an area of concern for you or it can be worn tucked in at the front for the hi-low effect.

It can also easily be layered due to the lighter weight feel of the cotton, both as a ‘under’ or ‘over’ without adding too much bulk (fuller busted girls really don’t need the bulk that a thicker shirt provides – especially if wearing under a jumper).

Both the shirt and the jeans are from the new season at Country Road.

The mid rise crop jeans I’m wearing might even challenge my favourite Levi demi-curve skinnies in the comfortable stakes.

They are divine. Very generous in size too so it’s worth trying a size down to see how they feel.

The White Shirt Edition

Boyfriend Shirt $129.00 I’m wearing a Medium |  Mid Rise Crop Jeans $119.00 I’m wearing a 12 (if I buy another pair I would go for a 10) Boots

Rockport  |  Bag Mulberry Del Ray (link to black on sale)  |  Sunnies Witchery

I’ve put together three slight changes without over accessorising the look. I want to keep the shirt front and centre.

The White Shirt Edition The White Shirt Edition Shoes Kurt Geiger from the Tardis a.k.a my wardrobe which constantly surprises me by showing me things I had forgotten I owned 😉

** Apologies for the very sloppy visual – jackets thrown over the pool glass is never a good look!

Unfortunately I was without a  lensman  – so Mr. Tripod obliged instead.

Jumper: Merino Silk V Neck $99.95 Country Road

I know this shirt will sit very nicely alongside my other shirts.

The length, cut and lightweight fabric add a point of difference to what I already have in my wardrobe making it a sensible transeasonal piece.

Just by adding different jackets and scarves I feel sure I will wear this shirt to death – which makes me happy and Mr. IM bloody ecstatic!

One last thing… These shoes:  A.Must.

  • I can’t walk past a great white shirt. My favourite one at the moment is from Witchery. This one is fantastic and I love how you have styled it in all the photos. Rachel x

    • Me neither Rachel. Since writing this post I’ve gone and brought yet another one – thank god they are big for Spring/Summer! xx

  • I love the white shirts on you. I’m afraid much like Kim-Marie I just don’t do the white shirt thing. Maybe it was too many years wearing one as part of my school uniform and then my nursing uniform. I guess I feel like I’m wearing a uniform when I wear one. I do own one white shirt dress which I love. I think it’s all in the length. Jo xx

    • You’re so right Jo – it is all in the length. I also love that we are all so very different and find a way of adapting our individuality based on the current fashion trend – Your’s is the white shirt dress, which sounds perfect to me xx

  • Lisa Mckenzie

You look stunning in your white shirt outfits Bev,I love how you have styled them ,very chic!
I bought my first “liked”white shirt this year it is a linen cotton blend from memory and you can roll up the sleeves or tuck it in or wear alone or under a knit ,I also have a cotton jumper in white which I will be wearing as it gets warmer.I do not like white shoes idk why I think it’s because of the ugly ones around in the 80s and 90s I prefer a nude shoe, great post sweets Xx

    • Thanks gorgeous girl – I have always adored shirts of any description!
Linen or linen blends always hit the spot for me too – your Memory shirt sounds perfection. I’m loving how even though the weather is still cold (yes, even here) the pastel tones are enticing us to dream of summer days…Mwah xx

  • Yes, a white shirt is a wardrobe staple. My fave is a witchery linen one that is prob nearly 10 years old! Although I did pick up a Katies one earlier this year in the sales for about $12, and it’s fast becoming a favourite too 🙂

    • I’m such a linen lover Janet – especially a crisp white shirt! Love the sound of your $12 bargain too! xx

  • Barbe-Fashionista in Suburbia

    that is s great shirt!!

  • I’m all about oversized at the moment – I don’t know whether it’s because I’m carrying a little extra winter padding or what! I love the white shirt, def a wardrobe staple.x

    • Shirts of any colour of always been my thing, but seriously loving the boyfriend shirt at the moment…maybe I’ve got some excess winter padding too! xx

  • Sophisticated Mumma

It’s a Yes from me! Love a versatile white shirt, classic and always classy! Looking great Bev! x

    • Thanks so much flower. Totally agree on the classic and classy stakes…currently coveting a new Ralph Lauren white shirt for summer too! xx

  • Oh and thank you for joining me in the Wardrobe Wednesday Glam Squad x

  • I’m a Levi’s Demi Curve too. I picked up a patterned pair for a tenner when I was in the USA last year and I love them. You are working that white shirt like the business.

But I’m sorry, I’m going against the grain on the white shirt thing. I really am not fond of them on me. I do own two. One Witchery OCRF studded collar one and one Dion Lee for Cue cropped one – but I almost never ever wear them. They’re just not my thing.

    • Thanks gorgeous girl. I love the way Levi’s intentionally made a range for different shaped bottoms – it’s like the just knew my shape!

You rock colour so well that you don’t need to even consider the white shirt xx

  • Snap again! I bought those jeans on the weekend and I agree, they are fabulous! I don’t have a white shirt like yours and I love the way you’ve styled and accessorised it. I’m planning to wear my jeans with my CR chambray shirt – a bit more casual for my every day at home and practical around 3 little boys. You look gorgeous as ever lovely. x

    • Thank you darling girl…to be honest, I think I could just send you shopping for me! Chuffed you got the jeans – everyone is raving about them – they’ll look fab with the the chambray too. xx

  • You look lovely in the white shirt! I’ve got hair envy too X

    • Thank you so much Ingrid…I’m going through the should I get it cut phase – but everytime I do I regret it! xx

  • Love a white shirt. Am too scared to count how many I actually have. But they’re all different of course! No really, they are!!

    • Lisa you’re a girl after my own heart…everyone is a necessary purchase! xx

  • You look so good in every pic!

  • Petra

Yeah, I love the leopard print boots too! Over the years I’ve had my fair share of white shirts, slightly masculine, and worn them loose over jeans/pants. I’m in Melbourne now so must wear black (haha), so I think I’ll take a rain check on the white shirt this year!!!

    • The leopard print boots would look fab in Melbourne Petra…and the white shirt with a few layers over the top!! Freezing here too at the moment, so I’m struggling to wear my Spring work wardrobe…how are you settling in? xx

  • Norlin Mustapha

I love how versatile the humble white shirt is! Believe it or not, I’ve only recently bought a white shirt …a few months ago. Well, I meant a plain white shirt. LOVE how it can be dressed up or down!

    • Total versatile Norlin – a must have piece! Can’t wait to see how you style yours too xx

  • Could you beeeeeeeee any spunkier? I think not. x

  • ali

Thanks for that Bev. I’ve been looking for a shirt like that. I was in your store on the weekend and the lovelies got me all kitted out, but I forgot to ask for a white shirt. (Got the shoes though- I’m loving them!L

    • So excited to hear you got the shoes! I adore my white shirts, its the one item you can afford to duplicate in your wardrobe. I have to admit though the boyfriend style is the most flexible Look forward to seeing you next time you’re in xx

  • chile_chicken

Oooh I do love those last pair of shoes! I also am a big fan of your leopard print boots. Lauren from SAHM I am

    • Nude shoes are amazing at the best times…but comfortable as well – yes please!

I wondered who chile chicken was 😉 xx

  • Looking super gorgeous! I would love to work out how to pull off white. I have two white jackets in my cupboard that are still new with tags. I might need to add them to my ‘should it stay or should it go now?’ pile.

    • Thanks gorgeous girl! Definitely keep the white jackets. Trust me, as your confidence grows those jackets will be on high rotation! x
