My July Beauty Must Haves

Its been quite a while since I shared my beauty favourites.

To be honest, I guess I have been stuck in a rut. Just going through the motions of using what was in my make-up bag – you could say I’ve  been on make-up auto-pilot.

But at the moment there are a few pieces in my arsenal that I just can not live without.

Before I share them with you, I wanted to give you the heads-up that I will be posting the second stage of my Botox journey next week.

If you didn’t catch the first have a read here (B is for Botox).

Right, here’s what I’m loving:

Beauty: My July Must-Haves

1. Hourglass Veil from Mecca Cosmetica $79.00

I cannot put into words just how much I love this product.  This was a hot-tip from the lovely Barbe at Fashionista in Surburbia.

After reading one of Barbe’s posts about this primer, it went straight on to my Birthday list…Yes, I always produce a list. If you know what you want then ask for it – it makes for a much happier birthday! My gorgeous girl obliged (like wonderful daughters do) and hot-tail her pretty little ass to Mecca in Brisbane.

Applied after your serum and moisturiser, it makes the perfect base for your foundation. SPF 15, it conceals redness and softens the look of fine lines and wrinkles (yes please). It repels water thus creating the perfect long-lasting base.

As I work in air con all day (even in winter) my very dry skin can take a heavy battering. This product has made my skin smile and my make-up stays in place all day.

Do you get the feeling I like it?

2. Witchery Lipstick in Dust Pink $12.95

Creamy and moistening and the perfect daytime colour…I also have the matching lip gloss.

3. Chanel Vitalumiere

I have worn this foundation for a good few years now. Yes, of course I try everything new that hits the market, but I also seem to go back to my old faithful.

Satin finish, perfect for older skin offering a youthful radiant complexion.

I wear colour 40 Beige – I find it the perfect winter shade. For summer I can add a touch of bronzer if my body is tanned.

4.  Nars – The Multiple $58.00

Again this product is not new to the market. But it is a make-up bag must-have…put it on your Christmas List lovelies!

I’m using  the colour ‘Orgasm” which is one of the iconic colours in the Multiple range.

This is a multi-purpose cream to powder formula which can be used on cheeks, lips eyes or body. I tend to only use on my cheeks, except when away on holidays and it the perfect daytime product to use for a natural looking finish.

Please don’t be put off by the price tag – this is worth every single cent.

5. Colour Tattoo by Maybelline NY  from Priceline $5.97 (on sale)

Audacious Asphalt – the perfect colour for a touch of daytime smokey eye.  It can also be layered heavier for evening.

6. Eye Shadow Primer by Australis from Priceline $

Providing the perfect base for my colour tattoo. Eye shadow magnets provided heavy duty staying power which works a dream on my droopy eye-lids!

7. Model & Co Volumeyes Mascara $20.00

Most people on the planet have fallen in love with Benefit They’re Real Mascara – I love it too.

I was shopping for fake-tan in Coles on our recent trip to Palm Cove and this mascara came free with the Model & Co tanning cream. I used it straight away and at the moment its the first mascara I reach for in the mornings…I wonder if this fascination will last??

So tell me your beauty must-haves…What products would you recommend I try?

I’m linking up with the lovely Rachel form Redcliffe Style today

  • Claire Chadwick @ Mum’s Closet

I’ve been wondering what the Witchery lipsticks were like!? I see them at the checkout all the time but am yet to buy one.

Some great products here that I need to give a try.

  • Norlin Mustapha

I’ve got the Nars Matte Multiple on my wish list, but the price in Australia is just ridiculous. Better remember to ask my hubby’s relo to be my makeup mule when they come over from the U.S this year. I’ve heard how good it is and I do love a multi-use product!

  • Lisa Mckenzie

Love the Nars and the Hourglass veil sounds wonderful.I love Benefit gimme brows, smasbox anything and I also love napoleons primers and I love maybelline lippies ,my favourite colour is pink peony.
Can’t wait to see your Botox follow up post you gorgeous girl Xx

    • How fantastic is Nars Lisa? All of their products are amazing, but The Multiple is for me the one I can’t live without. Benefit Gimme Brow is also a must have make-up bag essential…especially since my eyebrows are almost non-existent after years and years of over plucking!!!
Just sitting doing my Botox post now…can’t wait to see what you think xxx Mwah

  • Sophisticated Mumma

The Hourglass Veil sounds awesome, must look that baby up! I love my Nars foundation and generally love Nars products full stop. I’m still on the lookout for a really fantastic concealer, have found so many disappointing ones lately. Think this cooler weather is playing havoc with my skin! Great that you’ve found a new mascara that’s working for you, there are so many great ones around! x

    • Seriously best beauty find in a long time. Add it to your list darling – its so velvety smooth and really holds your foundation in place.
Totally agree, anything Nars is amazing. Love the stuff.
Like yours, my very dry skin always misbehaves in the winter, which then has a knock on effect with my make-up application – bring on summer I say…so over this cold now! xxx

  • Barbe-Fashionista in Suburbia

Love this post! Glad you like the Hourglass Veil Primer, I am addicted too! Love it! I feel it also makes my foundation stretch that little bit further. ( I have just purchased THE most expensive foundation ever from Mecca and the primer makes it go a bit further). Love anything Nars. I have a lipgloss and the blush in the colour Orgasm, and I have recently received a sample size of the Deep Throat (oh Nars, you and those naughty names!) blush which is a bit more peachy. Really lovely, Bev. Well done on a great post, from one beauty junkie to another xoxoxo

    • Thanks so much Barbe – I’m just so pleased I read your post about Hourglass. Best.Primer.Ever. I know it will be one that I keep going back to.
Please please do a post on your new Terry foundation when you get a second. I’ve been trialling the Estee Lauder Double Wear Camouflage. I have the driest, parched skin (yours on the other hand always looks flawless) – my fear was that it would emphasise my wrinkles, but so far so good. I’m guessing the Hourglass primer really helps as a fabulous barrier. I’m thinking it will work best for me in the summer months though, when my skin is not so dry?
Nars products are the bomb – everyone should at least add The Multiple to their collection! xxx

  • Great post! My beauty cupboard is overflowing at the moment and I’m pretty sure a lot of it really isn’t my style or doing me any favours. I do have three teen girls though, so I’m sure it won’t all go to waste.

    • Thanks Raychael – I’m such a beauty junkie.
I can’t recommend the Hourglass Veil Primer enough (especially for us youthful girls).
I’m always on the lookout for products that go the extra-mile and offer my laughter lines a little something extra. Hourglass has it all and creates the perfect canvas to-boot! xx
Sure your girls are in heaven trialling your products!

  • I’m loving Benefit’s The POREfessional primer and They’re Real! mascara and also MAC blush in Springsheen. Speaking of MAC, it’s about time I added a new lip colour to my collection!

    • Benefit products are amazing. They’re Real & Gimme Brow are my fav’s. I’m also more than happy to flirt with anything from MAC…Go buy that lippy! xx

  • Kelly

Thanks for sharing you beauty loves Bev. I really like the Australis Matte Out primer – I suspect it is not the best on the market but for the price point it is certainly fighting about its weight. Though I like the sound of its line softening abilities!

And I totally agree with you regarding birthday lists. My OH loves it too, especially when i send him the link (which I did only to make sure he got the right one) and then he just buys it online and has it delivered. Can’t get any easier than that! Every one is a winner.

    • Total pleasure Kelly!
Honestly hands down best primer I’ve ever tried. It gives fine lines a blurred effect & my foundation really stays in place from dawn till dusk – love it! I’ve also read great reviews about the Australis primer too – keep the Hourglass Veil in the back of your mind in case you fancy a change…Just so you know, my Christmas ‘wish-list’ is already coming along nicely – I’m guessing your is too? xx
