Beauty Review: Quench

My skin is as dry as a dogs bone.

Ever since I can remember, I have always had dry sensitive skin. You know, the type of skin that shows the slightest wrinkle the minute it forms – What a lucky girl I am!

One of my oldest skin memories is using my Mum’s Oil of Ulay – Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. – The burning sensation lasted long after I had scrubbed my face clean.

For years, I have gazed longingly at my gorgeous friends flawless faces, always wishing I had a bit more moisture rather than this parched oasis that I am blessed with.

To add insult to injury I also suffer from psoriasis – which when I am feeling stressed and agitated has a habit of sneaking down from my hairline and setting up home on my cheeks and chin – completely uninvited I might add!

Panic often sets in at this stage, while I try and devise a plan to instantly ease the soreness that unfortunately comes with it. The reality is I inevitably make matters worse.

It can be a viscous circle.

I never have any idea how long it will stay. It can disappear over night or it can be around for weeks.

The one thing I know for sure is that if I’m stressed, I have to make sure my skin care is as good as it can be.

**Clarins Beauty Flash Balm $39.99   Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference 75ml $57.50

Tiology Advanced Formula Rosehip Oil $29.95**

I have been known to change my products regularly. But when I find a good product, I will always remain faithful.

All three products have got me signed up on the faithful front. I am a loyal supporter.

Quench and Moisturise

1. Beauty Flash Balm – Clarins.

This product has grown on me. I use it over my moisturiser before I put on either a BB or foundation. Excessive? Maybe – but it works for me ūüėČ

Now I’m sure most of you know that this product has been around for a while. It offers to ‘tighten and brighten’ {a bit like a BB} which I feel it does, at the same time as giving your skin a quick plump up. It smells delicious, feels luxurious and I never react to it – Its a keeper!

2. Triology Advanced Formula Rosehip Oil.

Because my skin is constantly parched this beautiful rosehip combination gives me a moisture boost that I love. It absorbs so quickly and feels like a dream – and never feels oily.

Potent super antioxidants lycopene from tomatoes and phytosterol from acai help protect me from premature ageing ¬†–¬†I think it might be a late for the premature part – but a girls gotta try.

Omegas 3 and 6 and 9 offer moisture and renew. Oat extract provides a soothing and luxurious feel. Not only does it lock in the moisture boost it provides, it also presents a fabulous platform for my moisturiser. I can’t get enough of the stuff.

I use this every morning and alternate nights when not using Apha H

3. Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference.

I have been using this for a few weeks now and I love it. One of my friends started using this first {she has great skin – hardly any lines} and had no reaction at all. That was all I needed to hear.

If you are looking for a good amount of moisture without an greasy aftermath this might be the cream for you. Its not a heavy formulation,  it dissolves beautifully in to the skin and provides a great base for your foundation or BB.

I use this twice daily morning and evenings.

Note: Ms.May {who is 21} has also just started using this and loves it too!

Prevention.

Not many people are perfect when it comes to sticking religiously to a skin care routine.

Aim for a faithful  and stead-fast in your approach 90-95% of the time {the 5-10% allowance is for the baby-wipe nights where you may have partaken in a vino or two}.

Every little helps is my approach when it comes to skincare and always drink plenty of water.

Here is a link to my Cleanse and Prepare post and The Big Guns that have now become part of my daily beauty routine.

You could be fooled in to thinking that I’m always on the look out for the next miracle cream promising to make my¬†wrinkles¬†laughter lines melt away over night.

In reality, I understand said laughter lines are here to stay.

But who knows, the next product might just be the one to prove me wrong…or it¬†might just be the perpetual beauty junkie in me, is looking for her next fix!

What moisturiser do you use? Do you feel you have got the balance just right? Any products you would like to recommend?
