Beauty Review: The Big Guns – Alpha H

If I had been blessed with a crystal ball I would have known to take more care of my skin.

Growing up in the UK {where the weather gods are not as kind in that part of the world} meant frantically dashing outside to catch a glimpse of sunshine when it popped from behind a cloud.

The first time I was made to use a suntan lotion, was on a  family holiday to the Costa-del-Sol in Southern Spain. I was 10 at the time.

Arriving early in the morning after a night flight, and desperate to make the most of the sun {just in case it disappeared} we dashed to the beach and instantly de-robed.

You can probably guess the rest…

‘We won’t stay out long, so no need to wear any lotion’

Within 5 minutes we had all fallen fast asleep.

Two hours later we surfaced looking very tomato-like and already sore…The blisters moved in the next day – OUCH – Yes, I can still remember the feeling.

Was I ‘sun-safe’ from then on? No of course not. I still pushed the SPF boundaries and suffered the consequences along the way.

Today, I am more than a little obsessed with keeping the ‘ticking age clock’ at bay for as long as possible. I am also realistic enough to know that I can’t reverse the damage done in those early years, but it doesn’t stop me trying!

I now respect my skin.

the big guns

1. Alpha H – Liquid Gold Intensive Night Repair Serum  |  2. Alpha H – Liquid Gold Original  |

3. Alpha H – Liquid Gold Prep & Prime  |  4. Alpha H Liquid Gold Radiance.

Do these babies work miracles?

Of course not.

Do I believe they have improved my skin?

A big YES.

Alpha H Liquid Gold Intensive Night Repair Serum

Apologies for the state of the bottle – it just proves I use it!

This product is a little power house of goodness for peri and post menopausal women in particular. Hyaluronic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Vitamin A, Vitamin B3 and the latest Collagen boosting peptide (Plamitoyl Tripeptide-5) Apply: Use under your normal night cream on alternate nights to the Liquid Gold.

I brought products 2, 3 and 4 from Adore Beauty as part of a set. The formulations need to be introduced sequentially:

  • First: Liquid Gold Prep and Prime.
  • Second: Liquid Gold Original.
  • Third: Liquid Gold Radiance

Stage One: Prep and Prime

First softens, smoothes and creates a platform of acceptance whilst hydrating and enhancing the overall appearance of your skin. A complex of Arnica, Cypress Malt and Solomon’s help to replenish and ease tired skin. Apply: Nightly use 3-4 drops on cleansed skin. On alternate evenings, follow with your normal night cream.

Stage Two: Liquid Gold Original

This then builds on this platform, to help accelerate the firming and lifting action. A potent blend of Glycolic Acid, Liquorice and Silk Proteins. Apply: 3-4 drops on alternate nights.

Stage Three: Liquid Gold Radiance

This is a precision blend which targets uneven skin appearance to dramatically unify skin tone: restoring a youthful glow. Hibiscus Extract, White Mulberry, Cucumber Seeds, Waltheria Indica Leaf with Niacinamide, Glycolic Acid and Ferulic Acid. Apply: 3-4 drops on alternate nights.

My thoughts:

I didn’t know what to expect when I started using these Alpha H products. I just knew my dry skin was lacking and crying out for help.

My fear was that I would have an allergic reaction {my skin is extremely sensitive and I’m prone to flare up/reactions}. I did feel a slight tingling sensation in the first few weeks of use, but this quickly eased and since then it has been fine.

Would I buy it again? Yes, I would. The general tone of my skin has improved greatly.

Once your skin has adjusted to the formula you wouldn’t have to keep buying all three products, so cost wise it wouldn’t be such a huge investment to achieve the same results. And I’m all for saving a few pennies where possible. 😉

** The Liquid Gold Original was not listed on Adore Beauty or Alpha H which is the reason for the missing link **

Have you ever tried the Alpha H products? What do you think?

If not, what is you favourite ‘can’t live without’ skincare product?
